Google  Thing #7 Moderator/Talk
This the only part I haven’t tried with my students, but I have started the exploration. However, it is on my next school year plan. It seems very interactive. I hope I will be able to use it for class discussion on different topics or a refection about a Chinese Movie. I believe it will engage students in discussing in Chinese to practice their sentence structures and new expressions. I’m looking forward to starting my summer project  with this tool included.

Google Thing #6 Video/Images

I found that it is very convenient to link video clips from youtube to my google site. Most of the video clips are “filtered” by myself. When students finished their computer lab assignments, they are allowed to watch any video clips on my google site which are all related to Chinese language and culture. So far I have the following catergories such as Chinese music and songs, Chinese dining ettiquttes, Traveling in China, Art and Literature in Chinese culture, Chinese martial arts, etc. I also posted the important class photos such as Chinese New Year events and activities on my google site. To my surprise, I found out that my students often visit my google site and talk about our class photos or get more knowledge about Chinese culture beyond the textbook told them. I have put working on google site over the summer as one of my professional development plan.

Google Thing # 5 Forms

I use google forms for the quarter evaluation and semester evaluation. Students prefer this online evaluation more than the traditional paper course evaluation. In addition, the forms will come up with the pie charts to show the percentage of the students “agree” or “disagree” a statement.

Google Thing #4 Docs

It is very convenient to use Google Docs with my students for the ongoing projects. I recently finished a project, Tour in China, students shared their PPT through google docs. I can grade students in class efforts according to what they have done. Plus, once the document is on Google Docs, it is not easy to get lost. What I also like the google docs is that I can view it online unless I want to download the students FINAL projects.

Very useful tool!

Delicious.com

March 2, 2012

I learned about delicious.com today from the tech group. There are always something new that make me feel kind of overwhelmed. I think delicious.com will help me to organize the Chinese class related web sites in the near future. I hope to have more time to explore these new technology tools.

Feb.2, 2012 Google Calendar

Greetings! Happy Lunar New Year!

I finally created my calendar with the help of my tech team leaders. I'm still working on it. I have posted the important class events, chapter tests, and quizzes for all classes. This is a great tool to keep my students posted in case they forget what I reminded them in class.

I'm looking forward to more training and sharing with the technology group!

:-)
